EarthServe wants to lend a hand to people trying to help themselves and will lend small amounts, usually $250.00, to disadvantaged women looking to improve their family status through hard work and the application of a basic idea or talent. All EarthServe Micro-Loan, (EML), proposals will be carefully reviewed and judged by an EarthServe representative and usually by two to three other persons independent of EarthServe who are experts in the particular fields addressed by the proposal. All EML proposals will be evaluated using the merit review criteria outlined below:
- The extent to which the proposed recipient demonstrates a desire and has the talent to carry out the proposed endeavor consistent with EarthServe’s mission.
- The extent to which the project shows evidence of imaginative and thoughtful implementation to improve the recipient’s family status.
- Extent to which the project has a realistic timeline and budget, an acceptable format, and utilizes existing resources.
Earthserve will receive donations through a Paypal web portal designated for EarthServe Micro-Loans, (EML). EarthServe will accrue those funds in an interest bearing account until appropriate loan recipients are selected. EML’s will be distributed without accruing interest and the typical repayment period will be 12 months. In the event that a loan should go into default, the repayment period will be extended for 6 additional months. At the end of the extension period any unpaid funds would be written off. The funds received as repayment of outstanding loans will be recycled into new EML’s.
